Siinviidatu leidis oma koha peamiselt kahel põhjusel. Esiteks, väikestele kogukondadele orienteeritud uuringuid ei olegi väga palju. Teiseks, ka Eestis võib praegu märgata ja ennustada, et mõned väikesed kogukonnad võivad n-ö üleöö muutuda märksa suuremaks (nt sõjapõgenike liitumisel).
Traditionally, police are expected to control crime, maintain order, enforce the law, and provide service to the community (Bittner, 1970; Trojanowicz and Bucqueroux, 1990; S Walker, 1977). […] Next, the analyses revealed that residents who have not been victims of violent or property crimes within the past two years were more likely to report that the police were doing a good job compared with residents who have been victimized, a finding that was present in all three statistical models of police functions.
Based on the current findings, it would be important for police agencies in small rapid-growth communities to form partnerships with the local news media.
