Kontekstiks:

Digital transformation may fail because of ill-designed processes, absence of organizational commitment, and poor organizational digital skills. In our research (van Zeebroeck, et al. 2021), we confirm that one of the major reasons digital transformations fail to provide the real returns is that they require a re-thinking of the original corporate strategy geared towards new opportunities when digitizing business systems.

Valimist:

The survey relies on a representative sample of 12,000 C-level executives, receiving 956 full responses.

Üllatus-üllatus:

Our research documents a natural tendency of many firms – in fact, 54% of our respondents – to adopt a defensive posture by using digital technology to strengthen their existing businesses.

Mõtteviisist:

Digital technologies can reshape the way to compete through a change in business model—for example, when advertising-supported US broadcaster NBC launched Hulu with partners, as a direct pay business-to-consumer (B2C) subscription model for video streaming, or when Oracle’s MySQL proposed a freemium model to enterprise solutions.

Lugemishuviks vihje järeldustest:

we find that digital technology adoption and strategic renewal truly go hand in hand. Digitally mature companies are more likely to engage in digital renewal, with those with greater maturity having a 3 times higher probability to couple digitization with strategic renewal.
