Siinviidatu leidis oma koha üsna triviaalsel põhjusel: suur osa minuni jõudvatest kommunikatsioonipraktikatest on … organisatsioonis domineerivatele ja tüübile (nt hierarhia, turg, võrgustik) vastavate igapäevapraktikate põlistamine, kuid üsna eemal sellest, mida nende organisatsioonide eesmärgist ja ühiskondlikust positsioonist võiks eeldada. On üsna tavaline, et lubadustest ei peeta kinni, kirjadele ei vastata, vestlustes segatakse vahele, jne. Praegu näiteks lubas üks komisjon oma otsuse teada anda nädala jooksul, kuid lubatud nädalast saab täna kaks … ja keegi ei ole vaevunud teavitamast viivituse põhjustest, vabandanud …

Niisiis suhtlemisest. Siinviidatu võiks huvi pakkuda eeskätt küll juhtidele ja juhtimiskoolitajatele, kuid artikli sisu võiks huvi pakkuda ka üldiselt kõikidele inimestele alates lapsevanematest kuni poliitikuteni (ma ei tea küll, miks selline skaala :)).

Research has repeatedly indicated that communication abilities of leaders are related to leader performance (De Vries et al., 2009; Van Quaquebeke & Felps, 2016), even when there is physical distance between leaders and remote employees (Neufeld et al., 2010). Conversely, poor communication can frustrate employee needs (Van Quaquebeke & Felps, 2016), harming the quality of relationships as well as employee satisfaction (Erben et al., 2019; Mayfield & Mayfield, 2009).

With these problems in mind, we herein introduce Leader Attentive Communication (LAC) as a novel communication concept that distinctively substantiates the relevance of leader communication skills and the role of leader attention for communication specifically.
